Hi! I’m James. Thanks for visiting The Perfect Build!
I am an engineer by trade, but over the years I’ve developed a love for working with my hands and building anything I can out of wood. I’ve built many pieces of furniture, at my wife’s request, and I’ve done several updates to our home. I’ve done projects for family members and friends. Doing projects like this has become a sort of therapy to me. They say time flies when you’re having fun, and this is definitely true for me as I’m building something. An entire day can quickly go by and I often find myself realizing that I was so wrapped up in the project that I forgot to eat all day.
I’ve called this blog The Perfect Build. To me, I don’t finish a project until it’s perfect. Now I don’t mean perfect in the sense that it’s flawless, but rather that it’s perfect for it’s intended use. My builds are functional, beautiful, and durable. I believe in making things to last, which means using materials and build methods that I think will withstand the test of time. If I’ve enjoyed the project and at the end my customer (usually my wife) is happy, then it’s a perfect build.
My goal is to post the plans to the projects I tackle with the hopes that it will inspire you to create your own perfect build. Perhaps my plans will work for you just as written – and if so, fantastic! Maybe you’ll find a way to change the design to work better for your needs, or based on the materials or tools you have available. It’s possible you value different things than I do, and therefore personalize my plans. If that’s the case – great!
Either way, I’m glad you’re here, and I hope you can find some inspiration and guidance along the way to your own perfect build!
